Lyla’s Luau was born from a place of deep love and powerful purpose. As Lyla’s mom, I—Erin—felt the sting of judgment, the ache of isolation, and the frustration of being unable to enjoy everyday experiences without fear or stares. Lyla is my radiant, non-verbal, autistic six-year-old, and navigating the world with her showed me just how many barriers still exist for families like ours. I began sharing our journey through a Facebook blog called Life with Lyla, and soon, other parents and caregivers reached out, echoing the same emotions and challenges. That’s when the idea sparked—to create a day in our town that was exclusively for our special needs community. With my fairy godmother Jill of Events by Candace holding my hand every step of the way, Lyla’s Luau came to life. The support from our community was overwhelming, and the event became more than I ever dreamed it could be. Now in its third year, seeing the pure joy on children’s faces and hearing heartfelt thanks from parents reminds me that this all began with one little girl who inspired something truly magical.

The 3rd Annual Lyla’s Luau was a beautiful, joy-filled success—and it’s all thanks to YOU! 💖
What began as a dream to bring smiles, inclusion, and a sense of belonging to the special needs community has grown into a vibrant celebration of love, laughter, and support. From the music to the hugs, happy squeals, and unforgettable moments—it was everything we hoped it would be.
To our volunteers, donors, vendors, performers, sponsors, and every family who came out to celebrate—THANK YOU. Your energy, kindness, and unwavering support continue to make Lyla’s Luau a safe, welcoming, and truly special space for every child and family.
We made memories. We made connections. And most of all, we made a difference—together.
